Uganda Police to commence Traffic Enforcement Operations Against EPS Defaulters On Monday August 22, 2022

As you are all aware, the EPS scheme was introduced under Section 165 of the Traffic and Road Safety Act, 1998, to purposely manage minor traffic offenders. The primary objective of the scheme was to deter road users from committing offences, by levying express penalties, that would help to decongest courts. The EPS ticket has 25 codes for traffic offences, whose fines vary, depending on the traffic offence committed. UGANDA: Motorists to drive at 30km/hr speed limit in Kampala

The police is introducing a 30km/hr speed limit for all motorists in the Kampala Metropolitan Area. This comes after police blamed the high number of accidents happening in Kampala metropolitan on over speeding. Last week’s traffic report indicated that a total of 342 accidents occurred and out of these 64 accidents were fatal, 167 were serious and 111 were minor.
