Starlink, a satellite internet constellation operated by American aerospace company SpaceX, providing satellite Internet access coverage to over 56 countries is now officially available for purchase in Kenya.
The announcement about Starlink being available for purchase in Kenya was made on July, 18th 2023 on the Starlink’s official Social media account.
This means that individuals in Kenya can now subscribe to Starlink’s internet service, which utilizes a network of Satellites to provide reliable and high-speed internet connectivity.
SpaceX started launching Starlink satellites in 2019 and it is now in over 56 countries latest being Malaysia, marking the 60th country around the world where Starlink can provide high-speed internet connectivity.
According to the information displayed on their official website, Starlink is currently available in Kenya using intersatellite links!
Kenyan users can expect Starlink’s typical high speed internet with brief periods of intermittent service and high latency. Users will be able to engage in common internet activity like email, online shopping, or streaminga movie, but they wont be able to engage in activities like online gaming or video calls. Starlink also added that the service will improve dramatically over the next year.
Price of Starlink in Kenya
Starlink now goes at KES 6,500 per month for service and KES 89,000 for hardware. Shipping and handling will cost KES 3,100 totalling to KES 92,100
