Airtel Money users to start paying charges effective 25th June, 2020 as Airtel Money rates revised

Airtel Uganda has revised the rates for sending money from Airtel to Airtel effective 25th June, 2020.

As a measure to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission by physical exchange of currency notes in Uganda, we have seen different telecommunication companies coming up with several safety measures and a way that encourage customers to be safe while they transact. Airtel Uganda is one of them and on 19th March, 2020, they implemented a zero charge on all Person to Person (P2P) and Mobile Wallet to bank transactions for a period of 30 days.

The zero charge was maintained until 26th May, 2020 when a 50%  discount on Airtel money Person to Person (P2P) transactions and Bank to Wallet charges was instituted for 30 days.

With this background, Airtel has reminded its customers that effective 25th June, 2020, all services that were previously discounted will be restored to full charge.

In their statement on changes in Airtel Money Rates, Airtel Uganda also thanked their customers for adhering to the guidelines put in place by the government and they also advised their users to remain committed to enabling electronic money transactions to mitigate the risk of transmission of the Corona Virus.

Airtel customers can access Airtel Money by dialing *185# which allows them to send, receive, withdraw and make payment using Airtel Money.
